Pastor
Rev. Philip Cook
Pastor Philip & Sis Cindi Cook
Pastor Cook and Sis. Cindi were married in January 1986 in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Together they worked in their local assembly doing everything they were asked from cleaning, ushering, teaching, or working with the Youth Department. Whatever the Lord wanted them to do, they were willing. Bethel Church was where they were married and dedicated their children to the Lord. They were very active in the ministry for 23 years.
Bro. Philip Cook was baptized in Jesus Name in 1978 at Grey Road Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Memphis, Tennessee. He later received the gift of the Holy Ghost in November of 1985 at Bethel United Apostolic Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Bro. Cook accepted his call to preach this great Gospel in 1994 and ministered in the local church under the guidance of his Pastor, Bishop Dwight Cook. He received his Local License with the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ and then a year later upgraded to General License. He was ordained by Bishop Don Johnson in April 1996 and received his Credential License with the ALJC at that time. While licensed with the organization, he served as the Mid South District Youth Director for 3 years. Through the years he has held license with the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ, the United Pentecostal Church, Int. and also the United Apostolic Church Organization.
After serving as Assistant Pastor for 6 years at Bethel United Apostolic Church, the Lord began to deal with Bro. Cook about stepping out in his ministry. So, by faith, in February 2005 he accepted the pastorate of Praise Temple Apostolic Church in Madisonville, Kentucky. Pastor and Sis. Cook and their two wonderful children have labored diligently for the Kingdom of God. And since moving to Madisonville, the Lord has added to the Cook Family. Their son Chris, who currently serves as Worship Leader was married in December 2009, to Kelsey Cox. In May 2008, their daughter, Ashlee, who plays the piano and is a member of the Praise Team, was married to Josh Mackey, who plays the drums. And just recently this year on May 17th, the Lord blessed them with their first grandson, Jaden Anthony Mackey. Truly the Lord has been good to the Cook Family.
In the five short years they have been at Praise Temple the church has grown tremendously both spiritually and in number. Pastor Cook had a vision to start a Bus Ministry, in which many have been brought to church through this ministry. Many Departments have been added to the church; a Sign Team, Youth Department, Children’s Church, and an Outreach Ministry just to name a few. The church has seen over 100 baptized in Jesus Name and over 50 filled with the precious Holy Ghost since 2005. The Sunday School Department has been revamped several times because we have outgrown our classrooms. And last year we were able to build a new Fellowship Hall, which is completely paid in full. Pastor and Sis. Cook realize that none of this would be possible without the help and support of the greatest saints on earth. God has blessed Praise Temple with a congregation who love the Lord and who love people and who are not afraid to work and sacrifice for souls’ sake. There is nothing that is impossible without the help of God and all the wonderful members of Praise Temple Apostolic Church.
And for all the blessings – we give God all the glory!
